Donn Richardson
Director of Operations at the
GLO Emergency Shelter

I graduated from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA with a BS in Criminal Justice Administration, while lettering in Baseball for 2 seasons playing Shortstop and Second Base. I’ve gained experience working in varying areas of Social Service; serving Developmentally Disabled youth and adults throughout Long Island and the Five Boroughs, in residential group home settings, providing emergency housing assistance for the NYC Homeless Youth population. As well as unsheltered NYC adults and migrant residents.

Hobbies and interests include sports, books, movies, entrepreneurship, writing, cooking museums, art, theatre, live music, traveling, entertaining great company, and any activity my 4-year old’s heart desires!

I enjoy the ability to meet people every day. I enjoy that my job allows me to directly and indirectly impact the lives of others in a positive way. I enjoy that this work allows us to delve into the cultures, perspectives, and stories of these world travelers.

A few words to sit with…

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” -Bruce Lee

“Those who say it can’t be done are usually interrupted by others doing it.” -James Baldwin
