Evelyn Botwe is a seasoned public health professional and compassionate leader serving as the Program Director at the 163rd Street Improvement Council’s Sedgwick Emergency Shelter. With over a decade of experience in health equity, social services, and program management, Botwe is dedicated to improving the lives of New York City’s most vulnerable populations through effective, person-centered care and systems transformation.

She is pursuing a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) from Purdue University and holds a Master of Public Health (MPH), complemented by extensive experience in community health, housing operations, and behavioral health programs. Before joining 163rd Street Improvement Council, she led initiatives across public health organizations and non-profits focused on maternal health, breast cancer, prostate cancer, homelessness prevention, and community empowerment, both locally and internationally.

What motivates Botwe most is witnessing the resilience of individuals and families rebuilding their lives through access to shelter, stability, and support. She takes pride in fostering a culture of accountability, empathy, and professional growth among staff while ensuring quality service delivery for clients. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family exploring new cultures and cuisines.
